Marty Noble was born into a family of accomplished artists. Her work has been inspired by her travels to Mexico, Guatemala, Europe, Israel, Egypt, Thailand, Vietnam and recently, New Zealand. Ethnic peoples of the world developed as her favorite subject matter. The unique qualities of the people, their art and landscapes have influenced her art over the last 50 years.
With the encouragement of her family of artists, Marty began her art strokes from an early age. In the early 60’s, when street fairs were becoming popular, she discovered batik, the ancient art of applying wax and dye to fabric. Each weekend her pieces sold out at street fairs in Santa Barbara and San Francisco and her career as a professional artist was under way. Simple designs grew into elaborate and detailed paintings sold through galleries in Southern California. Her passion for studying the arts and traditions of Ethnic peoples developed as her favorite subject matter. Her appetite for other cultures grew as she traveled in her early 20’s to Mexico, Guatemala, Europe, Israel and Egypt
